About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to support our CPA firm in serving small business and other business accounting clients. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, and helping ensure timely, organized financial reporting for multiple clients. The ideal candidate has formal accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and hands-on experience with bookkeeping systems and reconciliations. A CPA license is not required.

Responsibilities

  • · Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple business clients.
  • · Record and categorize financial transactions in accounting software.
  • · Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts on a regular basis.
  • · Reconcile e-commerce and merchant accounts on a regular basis.
  • · Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, including invoice entry and payment tracking.
  • · Prepare and review monthly financial reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • · Organize and maintain digital financial records and source documents.
  • · Communicate with internal team members and clients to request missing information and clarify transactions.
  • · Help identify bookkeeping discrepancies and escalate issues as needed.
  • · Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • · Assist with payroll, sales tax, or 1099-related tasks, if applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • · Formal accounting knowledge through an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field; or equivalent coursework/certification.
  • · 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting support, or related experience.
  • · Understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits/credits, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
  • · Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, and similar platforms.
  • · Knowledge of merchant platform accounting and reporting is required. (Ex. Shopify, Amazon, eBay, etc.)
  • · Strong Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.
  • · High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
  • · Ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple client accounts in a professional environment.
  • · Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • · Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Compensation & Schedule Expectations

  • Hourly -- Up to $30/hr depending on experience
  • Some availability during 9-5 work hours in EST time zone is required.
